Raised Plunge Pool Terrace & Fire Pit Patio
This Mansfield backyard is built on two levels. Beside the house, a broad paver patio wraps three sides of a rectangular pool, with full-width steps into the water at the end nearest the house. At the far end the yard drops away, so the end of the pool stands above the lower level, wrapped in a block wall and topped with the same light coping.
Steps on both sides of the pool lead down to the lower patio, where a round block fire pit fitted with cooking grates gives the lower level its own place to gather. A retaining wall runs from the pool along the edge of the upper patio and turns the corner, holding a raised planting bed with a row of shrubs and path lights. The outer edge of the lower patio sweeps in a broad curve along the planting beds.
The pool is an Okeanos P-20, a 12' x 20' fiberglass plunge pool, installed by CJ Pickering as an authorized Okeanos dealer and installer.
Materials & Details
Gray pavers in several sizes are laid in a random pattern on both levels. A band of darker pavers outlines the paving and frames the pool just outside its light coping, which is mitered at the corners. The walls are built from textured block in blended grays and finished with smooth, light-toned caps that match the stair treads and the coping. Rounded stone fills the strip between the patio and the deck.
