Waterfront Retaining Walls & Paver Steps
The steep approach to this Taunton waterfront home is organized around a long stairway and a series of curved retaining walls. At the top of the property, a broad paver driveway meets a curved entry walk. From there, flights of steps and rectangular landings descend through the lawn toward the house, making the route between the upper arrival area and lower yard clearly defined.
Retaining walls divide the hillside into grass terraces alongside the stairs. Their curved ends follow the slope, with gravel bands outlining the walls and paved surfaces. Near the house, the steps meet a lower patio and connecting walkways. Large boulders frame the upper approach, while path lights mark the driveway and entry walk.
Materials & Details
Gray paving units repeat across the driveway, walkway, landings, and patio, with darker borders outlining each area. Broad, light-toned step treads contrast with the textured retaining-wall blocks. Gravel beds and boulders provide a transition between the hardscape and lawn, allowing the walls and stairway to sit within the wooded waterfront landscape.
