Conservation Sees Every Building Permit
In East Bridgewater the Conservation Commission reviews every building permit filed in town. Its reach is 100 feet from a wetland, 200 feet from the bank of a stream and any land that floods in a 100-year storm.
The town’s wetland bylaw does offer a shortcut. Staff can issue a quick administrative permit, without a public hearing, for low-impact structures such as decks and above-ground pools built on existing lawn more than 25 feet from a wetland.
